Meet Alice

“Being healed isn't about feeling nothing. Being healed is about feeling the appropriate emotions at the appropriate times and still being able to come back to yourself. That's just life.”
-Stephanie Foo

I am a licensed professional counselor in-training (LPC-IT), I’ve lived nearly all my life in Madison and care deeply about this community. I provide a compassionate, person-centered approach to support adolescents, adults and couples in their journey of healing and personal growth. My work is grounded in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and I integrate aspects of attachment theory, behavioral therapy, internal family systems, mindfulness based relapse prevention and trauma-informed care. My experience has been supporting clients with a variety of concerns relating to daily stressors, anxiety, depression, anger, addiction, identity, career, health, compulsive behaviors and interpersonal relationships. I am a lifelong learner and appreciate the variety of perspectives that clients bring to the therapy space.

I view therapy as a collaborative process, where the relationship between client and therapist is built on trust, empathy, and mutual respect. Together, we can explore past and present experiences and patterns to work towards fostering psychological flexibility, emotional resilience, and a deeper sense of self-understanding. Along the way, we may challenge negative patterns of thinking and self-talk to adopt a more compassionate inner dialogue and disrupt self-limiting beliefs.

With trauma work, my hope is to help clients understand the profound impact of both "big T" and "little t" traumas. I believe that by acknowledging and integrating these experiences, along with any missed developmental milestones, individuals can begin to mend disjointed narratives. I am committed to creating a safe space where you can explore your feelings and consider choices that align with your identified values. My goal is to empower you to live a life that is meaningful and authentic to you, based on your needs, culture and beliefs.

On a personal note, I worked as a chemist for 5 years and decided to pursue a career in clinical counseling based on a passion for listening to people's stories. I enjoy yoga, reading, tasting new foods, traveling the world, playing cards and boardgames, and tending to my home projects, chickens and cats.
