Meet Brittany
“Relationships matter: The currency for systemic change was trust, and trust comes through forming healthy working relationships. People, not programs, change people.” - Dr. Bruce Perry
My name is Brittany, my pronouns are she/her, I am an Advanced Practice Social Worker who loves working with people across the lifespan. I particularly enjoy working with children, ages 6+, adolescents, and young adults. One of my main goals is to create a space where all of those I work with feel welcome, comfortable, and seen, so that they are ready to build the trust needed for supporting their well-being.
We never truly know what a person has experienced in their lives, or what they are experiencing day to day. I am passionate about supporting those who have experienced trauma, and I have experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence and childhood abuse and neglect. Depression and anxiety may be present as well. I want to meet every person I am working with where they are at in their journey, and support them in exploring and uplifting their strengths, whatever they may be. I center my work in inclusivity, and enjoy working with LGBTQIA+ and gender expansive children, youth, and adults, as well as neurodiverse individuals (including ADHD and autism) and people with disabilities.
As a previous School Social Worker for 6 years, I am incredibly passionate about supporting children, families, and anyone connected with the education system. I understand how difficult working through friendships, challenging behaviors, or even a career can be in a school setting. My goal is to support others in navigating the education system, and fostering skills to succeed in a system that can feel unsupportive to so many.
I draw on a variety of modalities to support those I work with, and would consider my approach to be holistic, with a trauma-informed lens. I draw from mindfulness techniques, play therapy, CBT, ACT, and DBT when working with clients, and always work to center those I work with as the leader and expert of their own lives.
I received my Bachelor’s of Social Work and English Literature from UW-Madison, and Masters of Social Work from UW-Madison. In my free time I enjoy reading, crocheting, practicing yoga, hiking, watching movies, and spending time with my family & cats.
